Air Source Heat Pumps

What Is an Air Source Heat Pump?

Air Source Heat Pumps absorb low temperature heat from the ambient air down to at least -15 degrees Celsius, and increases the temperature to heat your home and hot water.

Using ambient air is a renewable energy source and can be up to 350% more efficient than a fossil fuel boiler. For every 1kW of electricity consumed by the heat pump to move the heat, it can deliver 3kW of usable heat into the home or business.

Why should I install an Air Source Heat Pump?

Air source heat pumps are generally easier to install than other heat pump systems available and may require upgrades to your hot water cylinder, radiators and pipework. These upgrades make the system far more efficient which will reduce the running cost of your existing system.

Most existing central heating systems can be upgraded to accept an air source heat pump, or can be installed to supplement your existing boiler creating a hybrid air source heat pump system.

  • "Fantastic from start to finish. Very detailed discussion about upgrades to radiators etc required and they always had plenty of time to discuss various options. They were happy for us to take our time to discuss the various options and agree on the final plan. During the installation they were so neat and tidy - not a drop of radiator fluid anywhere despite changing almost every radiator in the house! Also knowledgeable about the Home Energy Scotland process for the loan and cashback."

  • "We have been very impressed with the standard of CMS surveyors’ service. They have been professional from start to finish with a high standard of workmanship and good attention to detail. Right from the initial assessment, we were fully informed of the process and options available and given time to consider these. They were even happy to accommodate changes as we went along. CMS were keen to work to our needs and happy to give advice without ever feeling rushed or pressured. The engineers who fitted the heat pump and new radiators worked extremely well as a team, arrived on time and left everything tidy and organized at the end of each day. Everyone from CMS has been extremely helpful and the whole experience has been really positive. We are happy to highly recommend this company. "
